Message from the Minister

President’s word

Each generation has its historical challenges, for the future of the nation! I can say that, for our youth, one of the major challenges is to successfully link up with this significant phenomenon that is the digital economy. I invite the whole nation to mobilize resolutely, to support the many initiatives of our young people in this area:

  • The government will have to proceed methodically and effectively with the establishment of an adequate infrastructure; but also the sanitation and good regulation of this key sector, in the interest of the national economy and the development of youth employment
  • Training institutes, public or private, are called upon to play their role to the full. They must identify new professions and adapt their programs accordingly.
  • Large companies and other structures, both public and private, are called upon to set an example, by gradually carrying out their own digital transformation.
  • Financial institutions will certainly find it in their interest to develop specific programs to support projects carried out by young people in this new economy.

It is at the cost of such a collective commitment that we will win the bet of a successful digital transition »

Message from the Minister

A precious stone in the digital emergence project
Marketers know what listening is worth and the responses it calls for.

Listen: to identify needs, expectations, dreams, and analyze them.

Respond: with concrete measures, corresponding to the desiderata identified and addressed.
.
What is this double-trigger approach worth in the field of public policies, if there is not, upstream, a strong, informed, assertive and determined political will?

In any case, the construction of the Cameroon Development Innovation Center (CDIC) bears witness to the solicitude of the public authorities for young people whose needs the Government had taken care to identify, using a participatory approach, in , these times when the “New Economy” imposes itself on everyone.

An implacable phenomenon of our time, the digital economy has not only led to a radical reconfiguration of our ways of being, of saying, of doing, of living. It is also asserting itself as a vector of economic growth and a source of jobs.

.

The competition there is undeniably fierce, ruthless, and leaves no room for wait-and-see or dilettantism. The President of the Republic had already, in this regard, had the wise and wise words of the statesman that he is, when he affirmed, on February 10, 2016: « Each generation has its historical challenges to become of the nation ! I can say that, for our youth, one of the major challenges is to successfully link up with this significant phenomenon that is the digital economy. I invite the whole nation to mobilize resolutely to support the many initiatives of these young people in this area: – the Government must methodically and effectively pursue the establishment of an adequate infrastructure; but also sanitation and good regulation in this key sector, in the interest of the national economy and the development of youth employment”
.
In line with its Very High Prescriptions, and taking into account the expectations of young people – formally expressed or stated – the Government, under the coordination of the Prime Minister has imagined, sized and financed, this futuristic infrastructural complex, imposing by its state-of-the-art equipment, and reassuring by its ambitions: to detect, supervise, accompany, and why not, position the relevant, original and innovative initiatives carried out by the young people of our country. Tied to current international standards, this Center for the Development of the Digital Economy does not have complexes to be made: the experts say of him that he is one of rare of this scale in the sub-region, even beyond. We should be proud of that.

“INNOVATE! CREATE, and above all DARE! « . The now historic exhortation of the Head of State to young people, announced on September 16, 2011, resounds here, through this infrastructure, with a particular echo, strong in its power and its consistency.

Suffice to say: on the site of digital emergence, the Cameroon Development Innovation Center will remain a remarkable stone, destined to be remarkable, in the end. We must be grateful to its Illustrious Architect, the President of the Republic, S E M Paul BIYA. This is the first duty of all Cameroonian youth, towards History.  »
